From time to time there will be some casualties in your contact list, people that might disappear or talking behind you. You must fight to build what is right for you and go in the right direction. It is also true that they do not build assets for you. Everything was on the line but I had to do what was right for my professional and personal life. The only moment when things changed was when I stopped waiting for somebody else to fix my stuff and I took the risk. It happened to me several times to be in a position where I was for too long not happy about what was happening around me. Because it is true they pay you, but Is it enough to do something constantly not right? If for a series of days, you feel that there is something wrong, then it is time to act and change your life. Never let the single day letting you take important decisions. Working life is about periods, it is never about “that week” or “today”, you need to be able to navigate at the maximum possible speed all the time, no matter if the wind is blowing behind you or in front of you. It is time to remind our self how professional we are. It is stressful, ok, that is why we are paid. We don’t care! We deliver as the week before. Then I love you Then I love you Then I hate you Then I love you more For whatever you do I never, never, never Want to be in love with anyone but you You treat me wrong You treat me right You let me be You make me fight with you I could never live without you You make me high You bring me down You set me free You hold me bound to you I hate you. Great! Go for it, manage the emotions as an extra boost of positivity to deliver a bit more vs what you feel you can do. No one tells you that in corporate you will have the same type of emotional journey you had in college and no tells you that “no matter what is happening around” you will have to deliver an output that is always at the level of your equity/salary/position in the organization. Because "we are as good as our last performance". Obviously, in the long term, we have a bigger risk, because differently from the self-employed, we don’t build asset for our self but for others. We are blessed, our level of risk at the end of the month is way lower vs the one of the self-employed colleagues in business. It is something we should not forget about our life in corporate. Love and hate are part of the journey to become a better manager and you DO get paid in both cases. My favorite quote is “This week they love you, next one they hate you.
